Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: May 17, 2026
I want to be upfront about how this site makes money, because the products I recommend are the whole reason you’re probably here.
The short version
BuyingForMom participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and other affiliate programs. When you click a link on this site and buy something, I may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. The price you pay is the same whether you click my link or go to Amazon directly.
This is how the site keeps the lights on, pays for hosting, and lets me spend time researching products instead of selling ad space.
The legally required language
As an Amazon Associate, BuyingForMom earns from qualifying purchases. We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
We may also participate in other affiliate programs (including but not limited to ShareASale, Impact, and individual brand programs) where we earn commission on qualifying sales.
How I choose what to recommend
Earning a commission has zero influence on which products appear on this site. Here’s what actually drives my picks:
- I would buy it for my own mom. If I wouldn’t, it doesn’t make the list.
- Verified reviews count more than star ratings. A product with 4.2 stars from 8,000 verified buyers tells me more than 4.9 stars from 30 reviews.
- I read the 1- and 2-star reviews carefully. That’s where you find the real failure modes.
- I check in-stock status before publishing. Out-of-stock products get removed from articles.
- I disclose product trade-offs. Nothing is perfect, and pretending otherwise wastes your time.
Some products in roundups pay higher commission rates than others. The rankings are based on what’s best for the reader — not what pays best.
What I don’t do
- I don’t accept payment from brands to feature their products in a particular position.
- I don’t accept free product samples in exchange for guaranteed coverage.
- I don’t write sponsored posts presented as editorial reviews.
- I don’t use “as seen on TV” promotional language to push impulse buys.
Questions?
If you ever feel like a recommendation reads more like a sales pitch than honest advice, please tell me — that’s the kind of feedback that keeps the site honest. Email sarah@buyingformom.com.
